Warmies are microwavable soft toys filled with natural grain and real dried French lavender. Warm one for up to 90 seconds and you get a gently weighted, lavender-scented cuddle buddy that holds its heat — or pop it in the freezer for cooling relief on hot Melbourne days. The full range is back in stock at Toybox Tales, $44.95 each, with free shipping on orders over $150.
What are Warmies and what's inside them?
Each Warmies plush has an inner filling of natural millet grain blended with dried French lavender flowers. The grain holds warmth evenly and gives the toy a gentle weight — the reassuring, grounding pressure many children find calming at bedtime or during big feelings. The lavender is the real thing, not a synthetic fragrance, so the scent is soft and fades gradually over the life of the toy.
Most of the range is the classic Cozy Plush size, roughly 13" (33cm) — big enough to hug properly, small enough for a child to carry to bed themselves.
How long do you microwave a Warmies?
Heat for up to 90 seconds in a 600–1000W microwave. Start at 60 seconds if your microwave runs hot, feel the toy, and add short bursts from there. A warmed Warmies stays comfortably warm for roughly one to two hours, which covers a bedtime routine nicely. Always check the temperature yourself before handing it to a child, and never heat it beyond the recommended time.
Can you put Warmies in the freezer?
Yes. Seal the toy in a plastic bag and leave it in the freezer for an hour or two and it becomes a soft cold pack — useful for bumped heads, hot summer nights and settling an overtired child in February. The same toy switches between warm and cool as often as you like.
How do you wash a Warmies?
Warmies are surface clean only. Wipe with a lightly damp cloth and let the toy air dry at room temperature. Do not immerse it in water and do not put it through the washing machine or dryer — water swells the grain filling and the toy won't recover.
Which Warmies should I choose?
For a first comfort toy — the softer, rounder characters like the Marshmallow Unicorn, Chick or Peanut the Elephant are easiest for small arms to hold.
For Australian animal lovers — Kai the Koala and the Platypus are perennial favourites, and they make excellent gifts to send overseas.
For older kids and teens — the Football, Grilled Cheese and Pink Donut land better than a traditional teddy while doing exactly the same job.
For sensory support — any of them. The weight and the warmth are the active ingredients, so choose the character your child will actually want to carry around.

Warmies questions we get asked in the shop
Are Warmies safe for babies?
Warmies are suitable for all ages with adult supervision, but a heated toy should never be left in a cot or bassinet with a sleeping baby. For infants, most parents warm the toy to take the chill off a bassinet sheet, then remove it before the baby goes down.
Are Warmies weighted?
Yes — the grain filling gives each one a gentle, even weight. They are not therapeutic weighted blankets, but the sensation is the same idea at a smaller scale.
Do Warmies smell strongly of lavender?
The scent is noticeable when the toy is warm and very subtle when it's cool. It softens over months of use. If someone in the house is sensitive to fragrance, warm the toy for a shorter time.
How long do Warmies last?
Years, with normal use. The grain can be reheated indefinitely; what usually gives out first is the plush itself after a lot of loving.
Can I heat a Warmies without a microwave?
There's no manufacturer-approved alternative. Ovens, stovetops, heaters and hot water will all damage the filling or create a fire risk, so microwave only.
